Cheryl Contee talks about the end of the old digital divide, with the use by minorities including women, of the latest technologies e.g. internet capable mobile devices and social media. This new era has created opportunities for investments in businesses that are not headed by the typical white male nerds, dropouts from Harvard or Stanford.
The new digital divide consist of lack of training, lack of skilled workers, not a lack of ability or jobs, but a lack of investments and the creation of content consciously aimed at women and minorities.
Venture capital is not funding women or minority companies, which provides great opportunities for individuals to invest in companies that could be undervalued because they are not “headed” by male white nerds.
